Flip Analysis – Why This 7-Page Site Is A Gem

Think you can’t flip a website? Take a look at this 7-page tiny site that sold for $750 – you might change your mind. In fact, with solid search engine rankings and monetization that is ready to grow, the buyer of this small site got an absolute steal.

This site sold for a few reasons: it had solid search engine rankings, it was monetized using standard methods, and it had a ton of room for growth. Even though the site was only a few pages deep, it got ten times is monthly revenue. While that’s not a bad day for the seller, we think the buyer got an even better deal – here’s why:

All the buyer HAS to do to it is swap out the Adsense code, and he’s making money. With a little extra elbow grease (as laid out in the video above), the value of the site will increase, allowing it to be sold for even more money. 1. Great analysis, Ryan! I actually remember this auction but skipped over it because (unlike you!) I didn’t see the potential. Looking forward to more of your website analyzations in the future!

  2. It’s an Xfactor Site. It uses the EXACT template from John’s Adsense Masters Course. The whole point is like Ryan said, build small tiny niche sites for passive adsense income.

The site was designed from the ground up to profit from Adsense. For future reference, if you are ever buying any site with the template shown on this auction, with the green default theme from John’s book, I would always recommend changing the theme FIRST.

I just wanted to add that because Ryan didn’t really cover it too much, probably because the buyer had already changed the theme. But X-Factor sites, changing the theme is a must. IF you are building them to flip, don’t use John’s theme, just use a random wordpress theme and a similar layout.

  3. Was this a previous paid service?

  4. Looks like too many changes were made to the site and the new buyer lost the #3 spot (I’m seeing the site on the 2nd page, #10)

It looks like it’s #1 now on Yahoo though.

BTW, the exact match of [corner tv cabinet] is only showing 14,800 searches a month.

If one was to target the other similar phrases ex, black corner tv cabinet, tall corner tv cabinet, etc I would guess you could capture over 20k a month.

  5. Thank you for the analysis Ryan …

Just wish I could get the adsense making something worthwhile on my sites but working on it and will make sure I come back here to implement the strategies you lay out. Fabulous content … as usual :)

  6. I have seen this mini site template and formula on a ton of long tailed keyword domains. It is all about the keyword research.

I know you said building a list on a site like this wouldn’t really work, and that you look for sites that you can build a list on. Can you do a flip alert on an example site that would be a good listing building site?

  7. Good post,i got a question if after monetizing your tiny site with clickbank can the clickbank code be swapped.

  8. I am wondering of this would work with a one-page website using a popular topic? Has anyone tried it, yet? I can monetize with Adsense and Amazon as well as contextual links.
